Review of Ocean Gate, New Jersey

The Jersey Shore's best little secret!
Star Rating - 2/8/2014
Ocean Gate is a lovely little town nestled at the mouth of the Toms River where it empties into Barnegat Bay. It has a population of just under 2000 people and is about 1/2 sq. mile. (1 mile long and about 8 or 9 blocks wide It has a great History as evidenced by the neat little historical museum (an old railroad Caboose) a Blue Ribbon elementary school, and Folks that go to pick up their mail daily at the Post Office (a great little center to see everyone in town!, and Market/Deli/Bait store where you can get a quick breakfast and learn the Latest Town Gossip! The Municipal Building and the water treatment plant have the distinction of being the 1st in NJ to be windmill powered. There are restaurants, and bay beaches that are manned by lifeguards all summer long and a 1 mile long Boardwalk along the River for all those walkers and joggers. I found this affordable place about 10 yrs ago, because a friend told me about it. (when you drive down Route 9, and miss the sign that points to OG, you'll end up in Bayville. I'm Just so happy I'm rebuilding my home there!
